App shortcuts

Two shortcuts open Pivit itself, both under Settings → Shortcuts:

To change one, click it and press the combination you want. Press Escape to cancel, or clear it to leave the shortcut unset.

Command shortcuts

Any command can have its own global shortcut, so it runs without opening the bar at all. Assign one from Settings → Shortcuts, or from a plugin's own page under Settings → Plugins, next to the command in the list.

Window snapping is the obvious candidate — a shortcut for Snap Left Half turns a four-keystroke sequence into one. So are Toggle Mute and Lock Screen.

Conflicts

Pivit checks shortcuts against each other and tells you when a combination is already taken, naming what has it, so you do not end up with two commands silently fighting over one hotkey.

It cannot see shortcuts belonging to other applications. If a combination does nothing, something else on your system has claimed it first — Windows itself reserves a fair number, and screen recorders, chat apps and games claim more. Picking a less contested combination is the fix.

What makes a good combination

Modifier plus a key, and at least one modifier that is not Shift alone. Combinations with Alt or Ctrl plus Alt are less likely to collide with anything. Avoid anything you might press by accident while typing — a global shortcut fires no matter what has focus.
