Installation and first run
Download Pivit, sign in, work through onboarding, and get the command bar open for the first time.
Install
Create an account. An account is needed to download Pivit and to complete setup. Sign up if you have not already.
Download the installer from the download page and run it. Pivit installs for the current user, so it does not ask for administrator rights.
Sign in. On first launch Pivit opens your browser to authorise the app, then hands you back to the desktop window. One installation counts as one device.
Work through onboarding. It sets your theme, confirms your command bar shortcut, and shows the bar in place so the first keypress is not a surprise.
Opening the command bar
Press Alt+Space. Press it again to close. If nothing happens, another application has probably claimed the same combination — see Shortcuts for how to change it and how to spot conflicts.
Running in the background
Pivit is meant to stay running. Two settings under Settings → General control that:

Closing the command bar does not quit Pivit. To quit properly, use the tray icon or run the Quit Pivit command.
Updates
Pivit updates itself in the background and applies the update on the next restart. To check immediately, open the command bar and run Check for Updates. The installed version is shown under Settings → About.
If Pivit tells you a newer version is required, it is because the server no longer supports the version you are on. Updating is the only way forward; the app will not work against the current backend until you do.
